Our philosophy when placing our kittens
We would like to get to know the future owners of our kittens personally – we do not sell kittens “over the internet”.
For our little Coutset Coonies we are looking for loving homes with plenty of time, patience and true family connection.
Our kittens are not placed into single-cat households (the feline companion does not have to be a Maine Coon or a pedigree cat) and they are not placed into unsecured outdoor access. Rare exceptions are only possible after prior agreement and a personal visit to the new home.
Visits & applications
A first visit is possible from around 11 weeks of age – one week after the first vaccination – and only by prior appointment.
Please introduce yourself briefly in your first message and include:
- Your living situation
- Number of people and animals in the household
- Who is at home and for how long each day?
We select our applicants very carefully, because our kittens are meant to find a home for life with you.
Our kittens are raised with love and expertise, and that is exactly what we wish for them to continue to receive.
Your cat trusts you and loves you – and is completely dependent on you. Please always keep this in your heart.
Pure price enquiries or messages such as “I am interested” will be deleted without comment.
Such enquiries show neither respect for the breeder nor for the living being – and will be strictly declined.
You are, however, very welcome to join our waiting list for planned litters without obligation.
Before your visit, please note:
- Please visit only one breeder per day.
- The visit is non-binding for both sides.
Rehoming our kittens
At the time of rehoming (not before 15 weeks of age), our kittens are perfectly socialised, accustomed to everyday noises and people, and reliably litter trained. This makes the transition to their new home particularly easy.
In addition, they are:
- Dewormed several times
- Microchipped and clearly identifiable
- Vaccinated twice against cat flu and panleukopenia
- For international travel: rabies vaccination (costs to be borne by the buyer)
- Thoroughly examined by a veterinarian before the first and last vaccination
- Of course already neutered – our complete worry-free package, with the risk lying with us as breeders
What our Coutset Coonies take with them
- A detailed “user manual” for your new family member
- A starter food package for the first days
- Purchase contract according to FFH requirements
- FFH pedigree (or copy of proof of application)
- Something to play with
- Pet passport / EU pet passport including rabies vaccination
- Copies of the parents’ health results (heart Doppler ultrasound, Laboklin genetic tests)
The registration in the national pet database can be done by the new cat parents, as the kittens are microchipped but not yet registered to an owner. I am of course always happy to explain how this works.
About single kittens and older cats
From time to time there is the wish to place a single kitten with a much older or very elderly cat. Unfortunately, this only rarely results in a permanently harmonious relationship, as the needs of a youngster and a senior cat usually differ greatly.
What has proven successful, however, is the integration of two kittens with an older cat. The youngsters can play together and burn off their energy, while the senior cat can decide for itself how much it wants to participate – without being overwhelmed.
And quite pragmatically: very old animals will eventually pass away – leaving owners and a single kitten alone once again.
For this reason, we are happy to offer a small “sibling discount” when adopting siblings together, as they grow up together and have each other for life. From time to time, retired breeding cats are also available.
About the price
Our kittens are placed primarily as pet animals and, of course, already neutered. Placement for breeding is only possible in absolute exceptional cases and exclusively to breeders personally known to us whose breeding philosophy harmonises with our own.
The price for a Maine Coon kitten is EUR 1,350.
A deposit of EUR 450 is required to make the reservation binding.
Deposits are non-refundable, except if the kitten becomes ill or passes away before rehoming. Short-term cancellations cannot be taken into account. Our kittens are not “trial objects”, but are looking for loving, responsible homes. We therefore ask for your understanding that a reservation is a binding decision.
Should a buyer, for whatever reason, no longer be able to keep their Maine Coon kitten, we are always the first point of contact. Together we will find a suitable solution – this is, of course, also part of our purchase contract.
Information on kitten status
- FREE – enquiries welcome at any time
- OPTION – someone is interested, enquiries still welcome
- EVALUATION – we consider the kitten suitable for breeding and are observing its development; this status may naturally change
- RESERVED – a deposit has been paid, the kitten is no longer available
Of course, we are always happy to support you with advice and assistance throughout your cat’s entire life. And we are especially happy to receive the occasional photo from your new home. 🐾
A comment to BYB = backyard breeders versus registered breeder with a cat society respecting all rules (in favour of the cat's welfare of course)
